Aquafinesse
Aquafinesse is a spa water treatment that works in a completely different way
to chlorine or bromine sanitation. Aquafinesse sanitizes the spa water by
removing the food source of the bacteria so that they cannot grow and multiply.
This food source is called ‘biofilm’ and is present on all the spa surfaces,
jets and pipes. Aquafinesse also softens the spa water by breaking down and
dissolving limescale build-up.
Aquafinesse is a 2-part system that comprises a liquid, added to the spa
water in a measured amount once per week, together with a chlorine tablet that
is placed in a dispenser which should preferably be located in the hot tub
filter compartment. The chlorine tablet must be replaced when it has completely
dissolved, this is usually every 2-3 days, depending on the characteristics of
the spa in which it is used. The liquid destroys the biofilm, coagulates
bacteria and softens the water. The chlorine destroys any bacteria that manage
to survive.

When purchasing Aquafinesse, please note:
In order to use Aquafinesse successfully you need to be able to place a small
dispenser, used to contain a single chlorine tablet, preferable in a skimmer
basket in the filter compartment. If your tub does not allow you to do
this you will need to purchase a
floating dispenser to house the tablet.
In hot tubs with 24hr continuous filtration the chlorine tablet may dissolve
quickly and require very frequent replacement. You will therefore need to
position the tablet dispenser carefully so that it is not in very fast water
flow and you may need to purchase additional
chlorine tablets
to supplement those provided in the pack.
Before draining your hot tub and using Aquafinesse for the first time we
recommend removing the biofilm and other deposits from the plumbing and
equipment first, without the use of harsh or toxic chemicals, by using Spa
Flush. We also recommend the use of SpaFlush at each water change.
When using Aquafinesse it is extremely important to keep your filters clean.
Aquafinesse places a lot of emphasis on the filters doing
their job properly during the first week to 10 days of its introduction into
your spa. You can help this process by cleaning the filters daily
and drying them before re-introducing them into the spa. After the
initial conditioning period you should clean the filters either weekly or once a
fortnight, depending on how often you use your tub.
Some spa owners purchase a second set of filters to rotate
with the set that are being cleaned so that they don’t miss out on their tub
sessions!
