BROMINE
Bromine is slightly easier to use and less smelly than chlorine.
Bromine behaves in a very similar way to chlorine, but it forms its own equivalent of chloramines called bromamines. Bromamines do not smell and they are nowhere near as irritating to the skin and eyes as chloramines. Also they are actually a disinfectant in their own right, so they enhance the bacteria killing capability of the bromine. Bromine is also more tolerant of high pH and more stable at high spa water temperatures.
To use bromine as the sole sanitizer in your spa adjust and maintain the pH within the range 7.2-7.6 and maintain an active bromine level of 3-5 ppm.
With all hot tub disinfection systems you should also use a shock once a week.
To
minimise your use of Bromine, maintain a level of only 1-2
ppm in conjunction with the all natural
monthly
spa treatment.
BROMINE TABLETS
If you are using Bromine Tablets without eco one enzyme based water care it is recommended that you first establish establish an initial bromide reserve of around 30ppm using Bromine Granules. This will kick-start the disinfection process and reduce chemical odour from the tablets. You should use Bromine Tablets only either in your spa's in-built chemical dispenser or in a floating dispenser. Do not place bromine tablets directly into a skimmer basket or elsewhere in your tub.

BROMINE GRANULES
Bromine granules dissolve rapidly in hot tub water to produce free bromine which kills bacteria and other potentially harmful organisms. Bromine granules may either be used on their own to maintain a bromine residual, or as an initial shock dose when using bromine tablets to sanitize your hot tub water. When using bromine granules alone to sanitize spa water it is important to maintain the pH of the water within the correct range and also to maintain the correct residual level of free bromine in the water at all times.
