SPA FROG FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is SPA FROG®?
The Spa Frog System comprises pre-filled mineral and
bromine cartridges. Use of the mineral cartridge enables spas
sanitised with Spa Frog to use 50% - 80% less bromine than standard
bromine treated spas.
The cartridges can either be placed in a re-usable
floating holder, or placed into a specially constructed chamber built
into the side of many spas.
How is Spa Frog Used?
The
Spa Frog cartridges are easily adjusted to meet the sanitizing
needs of virtually any size spa. Adjustment is performed by
turning a dial on the side of each cartridge.
In order to use Spa Frog effectively you should maintain
the pH of your spa water between 7.2 - 7.8 and the total alkalinity
between 60 - 120 ppm.
You should test the Bromine level weekly and adjust the
bromine cartridge to maintain a residual level of 1 - 2 ppm at all
times.
When
using Spa Frog you should still apply a fortnightly application
of a shock, such as
SpaGuard SpaLite, to
remove any non-filterable wastes and ensure that your water
remains crystal clear.
Is Spa Frog Compatible with other Products?
Spa Frog is compatible with most other hot tub water
care products on the market, including water balance chemicals,
anti-foam and shocks.
How Often should the Cartridges be Replaced?
You
should replace the Spa Frog mineral cartridge approximately every 3-4
months when you drain and refill your spa. You can tell when the mineral
cartridge is empty by shaking it. The bromine cartridge will last 2-4
weeks, depending on the size of your spa and how frequently you use it.
Is there anything else that I have to do?
Yes. Filtration....
Filtration is another vital part of keeping your spa
water crystal clear. In common
with any sanitizer system, you should make certain that your
filtering cycle is adequate for your spa volume and usage, clean
your filter regularly using a proprietary filter cleaner and replace
it every 6 - 12 months.
Filters last longer if they are allowed
to dry out properly between uses so it's a good idea to
keep a spare and rotate them.
